Dr. Matthew Wayson– a scientist or psychologist seemingly responsible for recording and monitoring the children and experiments, along with the physiological impact their studies have on the children Mad Scientist: Very clearcut from his introductory tape, where he proposes his idea of the Bigger Bodies Initiative, mentioning how it could both increase the workforce and decrease lawsuit numbers and people on payroll as long as it didn't have people working. Also, in a different tape, when he first sees Boxy Boo fully alive, he proclaims that it proves his BBI project to be a success and how it opens up numerous pathways of research. Huggy Wuggy is a tall and slender creature, with long floppy limbs and bright blue fur. As a toy and mascot, he’s a quiet yet warm and welcoming creature who loves to give out hugs. However, his monstrous counterpart has large, dilated pupils and sharp teeth, along with an unhealthy dose of murderous intent. He still loves hugs, but rather than a fuzzy wuzzy embrace, they’re the let-me-suffocate-you-and-bite-your-face variety. Eddie M.N. Killer Rabbit: At first, Huggy Wuggy appears to be a furry and friendly toy that would be right at home at Sesame Street. Then his mascot in the factory starts chasing you...Although, if you count her apparent Prehensile Hair, which she can also manipulate, that brings the total to eight appendages. Sinister Surveillance: After he leaves the lobby, you can see him darting around, watching you until he actively ambushes you. Pet the Dog: At one point in time, Playtime Co was once a regular toy company providing happiness to children and families all around the globe by creating toys. To bad it all fell apart with the company creating unethical experiements that resulted in the downfall of the company. Huggy Wuggy is said to be a controversial media character because of children buying toys of Huggy Wuggy and taking them to preschool which caused angry parents to forbid the game. While Huggy is a major antagonist of the Poppy Playtime games, his depiction in EnchantedMOB's Minecraft animations (which are non-canon to the games despite being made by the same developers) does not count as a villain since he displays genuine compassion to his friends and even comes across as heroic in some skits.
I spoke to Zach Belanger, President and CEO of Enchanted Mob who made the Poppy Playtime game. I asked who the game was aimed at. “Poppy Playtime was not created with the intention to target any specific audience. Bear in mind that this was the first game our studio ever created, and our main priority was to create something that we would enjoy playing ourselves. Beyond that, we have a passion for any content we create to be enjoyable by audiences of all ages. To us, it isn't accurate to say that we created Poppy Playtime to be consumed by kids or adults, but rather our goal was simply to inspire and entertain anyone who decided to play the game.”

He Knows Too Much: Implied. Clues found in game by the player hints that most Playtime employees such as Marcas were in the dark about Playtime Co.'s dark experiments. Marcas' tape is titled "Potential Problem", and Leith asks Marcas if he told anyone else about what he saw, which may indicate that Leith may have had Marcas silenced permanently. Card-Carrying Villain: Absolutely. The company was infamous for mistreating employees regularly. It even extended to murder and experimentation as well. Simpleton Voice: In contrast, the normal Huggy toys have this kind of voice. His goofy laugh can be heard in his theme song, as heard in Chapter 1, while in Chapter 2, a Huggy cutout plays goofy voice lines relating to hugs at each press of a button.
Featureless Protagonist: We don't even get a name for them. While they do appear in merchandise, they're only portrayed by the yellow dummy-like figure seen in the training tapes and just simply called "Player". note Project: Playtime also uses this idea and several alternate colors of the model. It Can Think: Stands out amongst every other hostile toy seen so far in that she is capable of speech. The Atoner: Possibly. Mommy recognizes them as an employee, implying at the very least they were one of the scientists. They also returned to the Playtime factory to rescue their coworkers, if the letter and Poppy's cut dialogue are any indications.Action Survivor: The Player becomes one after surviving their encounters with Huggy Wuggy and Mommy Long Legs, and the fact they're the only survivor of a mass disappearance event speaks volumes. Barrel o’ Huggys– a barrel of stretchy, flat versions of Huggy Wuggy that can hook together, similar to the real-life Barrel of Monkeys game. Rejected as it was deemed a choking hazard after children tried to eat from the barrel thinking it was candy Fighting from the Inside: Debatable. The first major, real hint towards this is when the player interacts with the mascots' cardboard cutouts. Candy Cat eventually begs you to stop feeding her, Cat-Bee briefly tells the player to escape the factory, and Bron tells a "joke" that hits differently than you'd expect. All Webbed Up: After she is captured by Mommy Long Legs in Chapter 2, the latter bounds and gags her with her web in the train, and can only be freed after all three games.
