About this deal

Unlike the Pure Red, the Cat & Dog has a charcoal-based Active AirClean filter that helps to absorb odours. It also has the upgraded Turboteq floorhead. This has a rotating brushbar that’s powered by airflow, allowing for a deeper clean on carpeted areas. The C3 Pure Red comes with Miele’s Allteq combination floorhead. We think this universal floorhead is a great all-rounder that’s suitable for both carpets and hard floors, due to the retractable brushes. Both vacuum cleaners are powered by 890W PowerLine motors. These are designed to comply with the latest EU regulations, but still provide ample suction. There are three attachments included with the Miele C3 Complete Pure Red Powerline: a natural-bristle dusting brush, an upholstery nozzle, and a crevice tool. The accessories are built to a high-standard and the on-board tool storage means you’re less likely to lose them. The wide 30cm floorhead means you can cover large areas in less time, but we don’t think it’s as good for getting into tight corners or around furniture. For comparison, the Samsung Jet 90 Pet has a narrower 25cm floorhead, which is less efficient but more manoeuvrable. It really comes down to personal preference – and the C3 certainly doesn’t feel difficult to steer.

When it comes to cleaning performance, however, the C2 is a match for the C3. So, if you don’t need the extra convenience features, the C2 is still an excellent choice. It’s not the best vacuum for larger debris though. Bigger items, such as cereal, can sometimes be pushed around until you lift up the floorhead. StairsThere’s also no motorised turbo brush, which is a big downside for carpeted stairs. A pet tool would make deep cleaning steps much easier.

C2 Complete PowerLine – This is the standard version of the C2 Complete. It has a set of basic on-board tools, including a dusting brush, crevice tool, and upholstery nozzle. A minor downside is that the extendable hose can start to feel heavy after a while. The curved pipe also isn’t the most comfortable design to hold, plus the vacuum is heavy to carry around (although most of the time it’ll be supported by the castor wheels.) Fortunately, the mid-level settings still offer great cleaning performance, and there’s also an inlet valve if you need to adjust suction further. In terms of weight, the Pure Red is around average for a cylinder vacuum at 7.3kg. It’s certainly not the best option if you’re looking for a lightweight vacuum, but most of the weight is pulled around on wheels (unlike with upright vacuums.) For comparison, the classic Henry cylinder vacuum weighs 8kg, while the Miele C1 Compact is a much lighter 4.3kg. We’re big fans of both the Miele C2 and C3. They are excellent vacuum cleaners that provide outstanding suction power, good all-round performance, and a large bagged design.

At first glance, the C2 and C3 are very similar vacuums. They have a bagged design, extendable wand, all-surface floorhead, PowerLine motor and 890W motors (unless you choose an EcoLine version.) They are also both built with a similar form and on-board tool storage. The capacity of the Miele Complete C3 PowerLine is 4.5 litres. This is less than the huge Numatic Henry, but still larger than many other vacuums – especially bagless vacs. Aside from specific features, we found the C3 to be easy to manoeuvre around the home. It’s also easy to adjust the height of the telescopic tube, which is great for getting rid of cobwebs or if different members of the family will be using it. Filtration The company produces a range of cylinder vacuums, but both the C2 and C3 have proven to be powerful, durable, and provide excellent cleaning performance. The long wand and extendable reach of the Miele C2 and Miele C3 make them convenient vacuums for cleaning ceilings. They also include an upholstery nozzle for sofas. The C3 HomeCare+ cylinder vacuum cleaner features handle controls and electrobrush with LED for demanding situations. While these three accessories are fairly standard for modern vacuum cleaners, they are useful for cleaning skirting boards, car interiors, and staircases. It’s great that you can change the angle of the dusting brush too, as this makes it easier to clean awkward spots. The bags automatically close when the vacuum is opened, so dust doesn’t escape. This is significantly more hygienic than bagless models. But how does the Miele compare to other cylinder vacuum cleaners? Does the bagged design make for easier and hygienic emptying?
