About this deal

Once in a blue moon, a book comes along that changes the world. The Origin of Species. War and Peace. 1984. The World According to Danny Dyer. And now, Cunk on Everything: The Encyclopedia Philomena, by Philomena Cunk. Read by Diane Morgan as Philomena Cunk, the star of Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe and Cunk on Britain . I think it’s probably the only encyclopaedia I’ll ever read and was quite glad for it including Brush Strokes as I’d seen Cunks references in her TV shows but had no idea what it was about and now I don’t have to look it up on the internet. The fictional Cunk, played by the actress Diane Morgan, is confident, impertinent and almost always wrong. At once too normal and too weird to be presenting real documentaries, Cunk has fronted satirical BBC programs and segments about topics as lofty as Britain, time and Shakespeare over the past decade. Meek, Thomas (19 August 2009). "Two Episodes of Mash". Edinburgh Festival List . Retrieved 2 September 2014.

You know the expression about those people who could recite the phone book and make it entertaining? Never has that been quite so apt as Philomena Cunk creating her own dictionary. Morgan and Joe Wilkinson later formed a sketch comedy duo called Two Episodes of Mash. [10] From 2008, they performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for three consecutive years, [11] [12] [13] and in 2010, they appeared on Robert Webb's satirical news show Robert's Web. [14] In 2012, the act completed its second BBC radio series [15] (co-starring David O'Doherty), and appeared in BBC Three's Live at the Electric. [16] In the same year, she appeared in Him & Her, which featured Wilkinson, and in 2013, she played Nicola in the TV series Pat & Cabbage. [17] In 2014, she made an appearance in the TV series Utopia, as Tess, [18] and in 2015, she appeared in two episodes of Drunk History. [19] Philomena Cunk [ edit ] During a segment on math, Cunk tells an academic that she saw a video on YouTube saying numbers only go up to 700, after which they are just given different names so people think they’re still going up. “That’s something that frightens me in the real world,” Brooker said. “The confidence with which people will start asserting things that they’ve read.” She's bulletproof' – Diane Morgan talks 'Cunk on Britain' ". This book is great because it covers everything in existence apart from the 95% of stuff not worth bothering with’ Philomena Cunk Morgan played David Brent's public relations expert in the film David Brent: Life on the Road (2016). She has appeared in several short films, including The Boot Sale, which was shortlisted in the Virgin Media Shorts film competition 2010. [28] [29]

I quite like the idea of her not being from any time or place,” Morgan said in a recent video interview. Charlie Brooker, who created the character, described Cunk as “otherworldly,” adding, “It’s like she’s off our plane by like 25 degrees or something.” But Cunk’s observations range from the absurd (“Was the invention of writing a significant development or more of a flash in the pan like rap metal?”) to the surprisingly insightful (is Jesus “the first celebrity victim of cancel culture?”). Her recollection of facts is also questionable — she refers to Christopher Columbus as Christopher Columbo, an “Italian sailor and detective.” In interviews, her questions often leave the real-life academics bewildered or reeling.Knihy písané fiktívnymi postavami, ktoré nejakým spôsobom nadväzujú na seriál či iné médium, málokedy stoja zato. Zvyčajne kvalita chýba a len je to o vyťahovaní peňazí z fanúšikov. Cunk is a character I’ve only discovered in the past week or so, and immediately had to grab the audiobook for this to hear more of her …interesting insights into the world. And this certainly did not disappoint. Although probably not quite as hilarious as her interviews, there’s still plenty of laughs to be had here regardless. Philomena Cunk is one of the greatest thinkers of the 21st century, and in Cunk on Everything she turns her attention to our biggest issue: why are there so many books? Wouldn’t it be better if there was just one? This is that book – an encyclopedia of ALL HUMAN KNOWLEDGE, from sausages to Henry of Eight to Brush Strokes to vegetarian sausages. This book is great because it covers everything in existence apart from the 95% of stuff not worth bothering with’ Philomena Cunk, star of Charlie Brooker’s Weekly Wipe, Moments of Wonder and Cunk on Earth, Cunk & Other Humans I thoroughly enjoyed reading Cunk on Everything and found it an OUTSTANDING read that gets the top score of 5 stars from me. I highlighted 75 sections of text on my Kindle to use as a quote later, but I do not intend to copytype them all. So here are 5 clips to demonstrate the quality of Diane’s writing....
