About this deal

The perfume is much nicer than the 1964 .5 ounce cologne. It is wearable and reminds me of the original Miss Dior perfume (in the Baccarat amphora bottle); a musky chypre. Really nice but I agree with the previous reviewer that it does have a really sharp note. Could it be musk? My Mom bought a bottle of this perfume right before it was discontinued (sometime in the 1980's?)and we shared it.

Besides the floral leathers I list here, I like Ann Gérard Cuir de Nacre, Balmain Miss Balmain, and Heeley Cuir de Pleine Fleur (and probably loads more I'm forgetting). Which floral leathers would you recommend to someone new to the genre? |Geminesse is a feminine perfume by Prism Parfums. The scent was launched by Max Factor in 1974, and was discontinued for many years before being relaunched in 2015 by Prism Parfums, who describe it as: This is a very interesting scent, coming as it does in the mid-1970s, as it belongs more in the late 1940s-early 1950s. I acquired a late 1960s Avon demonstrator sample box, so I've been doing a deep-dive into old Avons of that era. What I have noticed is that a lot of the Avons in production during that time were quite derivative of other popular perfumes of the era, and were perhaps created as near smell-alikes.

We fans of floral leather fragrances may be in the minority, but we’re passionate. There’s something about floral delicacy playing against rough, salty leather, and even better when the leather is softened by moss. If you love floral leathers, the Prism Parfums reissue of Geminesse won’t cause you to abandon your bottle of Chanel Cuir de Russie, but it’s worth a sniff — especially at its price. The first slam of Unforgettable is loud/Occur-like/leather/musky/chypre, but then the floral tames it way way down. Then you have a light floral leather skin musk.

Liquid Foundation • Botanical Blend • Natural Sun Protection • Earth Mineral Cosmetics • Vegan + Organic + Cruelty Free + GMO Free + GF I bought a .5 ounce bottle of the cologne in a "snowflake" bottle (circa 1964). I tested it on a slip of acid-free resume paper. I wear a lot of vintage Guerlain, Chanel, and other French perfumes and vintage Guerlain colognes but I am a little shy about actually wearing old Avon cologne on my body. Another Avon keeper to me, now I really determined to find out what else is hidden at the bottom-time of Avon line. vintage "LAKE LIFE" sign with Teal Accent, KAYAK poster for vintage lake house decor, female Kayaker, modern farmhouse, Kayaking Canvas Art

Of course, smelling vintage Geminesse is not the same as smelling Geminesse in 1974. (Are animalic notes like chili, where the heat builds over time?) The Prism Parfums release of Geminesse doesn’t smell like the vintage Geminesse I sampled. It’s less skanky and spicy, for one thing. But it’s still a floral leather. Hermès Cuir d’Ange adds heliotrope to the mix, with a blend that is a distant cousin to that found in Esprit d’Oscar and the original Oscar de la Renta parfum. I get a leather note from both de la Rentas, particularly Esprit d’Oscar, though it’s not listed in the notes for either. Violet and heliotrope are, however, so I’m not sure if I’m smelling leather or if it’s facets of the violet translating as such. Unforgettable is a really strong chypre fragrance. It has a real mid-century vibe and I suspect it may be a copy of another popular fragrance from that time. I discovered Avon Rapture is a copy of Mitsouko but I am not sure what other fragrances Unforgettable smells like. I get oak moss and a little peach and some other stuff like sandalwood or myrrh.

Leather has always held a place in my heart in fragrances and I have Mentally “Nosed” a few, One was called Fleur de Cuir.
